about

Madison, WI-based singer/songwriter duo Beth Kille (of Beth Kille Band) and Erik Kjelland (of The Mascot Theory) managed to keep quite busy during a 2020 pandemic year without live gigs, by performing Facebook Live Stream shows, creating collaboration music videos with bandmates & friends, and by arranging socially-distanced songwriting sessions. The results of those sessions make up the bulk of this new Kerosene Kites "Always Face The Sun" album.

The recording of the album is being tackled by Kille & Kjelland in their own studios and will focus on the core duo aspect of the group, leaning into the acoustic guitar and mandolin instruments of a typical live Kerosene Kites duo show.

The batch songs for this new album are somewhat shockingly drenched in optimism and positivity, especially given Kjelland's usual tendency to lean into apocalyptic songs about death & loss! The songwriting duo has unintentionally focused their lyrics on finding balance in life, a reflection of lessons learned through pandemic isolation.
